The 12th step arm of online AA, Steppers, kept me sane and sober during the pandemic isolation, and is still a valuable tool supporting the healthy habits of service and gratitude. If I ever have a moment of self-pity or fear of any kind, I check to see if a suffering alcoholic is writing. There is usually someone in the world writing, or many. SNAP! – my perspective changes with the opportunity to be grateful that I am not where I used to be (like almost all who write in desperation for relief). This service keeps me humble- carrying the message, then letting go, knowing I am not in charge. I am grateful for a way of paying AA back for saving my life, and as a bonus, like all of AA, I love the fellowship and teamwork.
